Aestheticell is committed to transforming Taiwan’s education through design by initiating an aesthetic revolution through the use of textbooks and enhancing the beauty of Taiwan. This case was part of a brand-new design for the two unit projects of fifth-grade comprehensive activity textbooks, the goal being to facilitate students’ absorption of knowledge and raising interest in the content of the textbook.
We wished for students to be able to “touch, play, and remember.” Under the premise of being unable to change the text, the textbook could become one that will allow students to willingly engage in hands-on approaches, while teachers have an easy time communicating course content.
Emergency shelter kit: The outermost layer allowed students to store necessary items for disaster prevention, and the cover featured an illustration of destruction by natural disasters. Rigid textual content was transformed through drawings, stickers, FAQs, adjusted layouts, easily comprehensible charts, and large illustrations. With the addition of small reminders and follow-along labels, we were able to extend learning to real life.
Disaster-prevention handbook: We formulated corresponding charts for different disasters and allowed students to fill them out themselves. The loose-leaf design also enabled teachers to add further relevant teaching materials and stimulate interest.
