The 23rd edition of Nuit Blanche in Paris.
Nuit Blanche, began in 2002 in Paris, France as an overnight art festival to showcase contemporary art in public spaces. TSIÒ is located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine, adjacent to the Musée d'Orsay. We merge the feeling of joy, hope, and energy brought by the temple fair into an emotional journey. Using 3D mapping project techniques, we showcase this digital Taiwanese ceremony on the historical building.
A Taiwan Temple Festival to Offer Blessings to the World.
TSIÒ is a traditional and highly respected large-scale temple celebration in Taiwan. Also known as "building a TSIÒ'' or "performing a TSIÒ," it aims to send blessings, ward off disasters, and fulfill prayers for its believers. A cultural practice that visualizes the deep-rooted spirituality in Taiwan's folk culture is memorialized on the 2024 Nuit Blanche stage.
Viewers will experience the elements of a TSIÒ through multi-sensory design techniques where unique cultural elements are condensed into a four-part series. The curated spatial environment aims to capture the waves of emotion one may feel during a TSIÒ ritual, and in doing so, showcase the richness of humanity.
Audiences find vitality in the microcosm of this Taiwanese ceremony.
Taiwan is considered to have the highest density of religious buildings. People embrace various temple fairs in pursuit of peace. These sounds, scents, and colors have become a part of Taiwan cultural memories. We depict temple fair scenes such as the king's boat, firecrackers, and parade by using abstract geometric shapes with vibrant colors. This performance condenses the essence of culture, guiding the audience into the world of temple fairs.
