A visual wave combining design, physics, and technology

Bito took on the role of visual director for the Golden Pin Design Award for a second time. We focused on the idea that the Golden Pin Design Award gathers the world’s top designers and works, and aimed to create visuals that breaks new ground and sets itself apart from past years.

The overall concept adopted “convergence” as its theme, which served as a metaphor for Taiwan’s design being at the point of convergence between the trends of the East and the West, conveying the grandeur of the Golden Pin Design Award in bringing together design experts from all around the world.

The key visual portrayed endlessly flowing waves—their rise and fall, and the process of unceasing turbulence, diffusion, and collision. Being both elegant and majestic, depicting the details of craftsmanship.

Through microscopic angles, the opening film employed the image of the changes in convergence and divergence of physical motion in nature, the diffusion and amalgamation of flowing water, and the visual tone of technical experimentation. These were able to set the tone for the future of Asian design, which is on the cusp of igniting a wave of revolutionary change.

The opening film also utilized 3D visual and human-machine interactive technologies to create cutting-edge visual experience. The stage was also equipped with "infrared depth detection technology" to detect the movements of award winners as they went on stage to receive their awards, which was linked to an interactive wall. This broke away from the traditional one-way, passive form of ceremony and added more fun and interactive elements to the event.
