Experience
This Golden Pin Design Award faced the tough challenges of the pandemic, yet our client, the TDRI, still wished to pursue a major breakthrough in the visuals of the award ceremony, in order to show off the great power of design.
With the theme of 2020 being a special mark in human history, we highlighted the changes and challenges caused by the pandemic. Simultaneously, it was an opportunity for change that called upon designers and the design industry. Situated at a critical time of drastic transformation, we reconsidered the significance of existing models and designs and came together to explore a sustainable future.
The stage design transcended singular perspectives, constructing a stage around a floating cubic image screen. This allowed the Golden Pin Awards to soar to the top of international performance standards.
The moving images set up the narrative, and the images adopted pure black and white tones. Through circular and forward momentum, the dynamic movements echoed the theme of “moving towards the new through exploration.” Gradually, the three parts were laid out in sequential order: chaos, tranquility, and moving towards hope, thus endowing this space-time background with strong narrative connotations. The cubic image screen became a part of the spatial architecture, and with the addition of fragrance design, surrounding lighting effects, music mixing design, and the joint performances of dancers and actors, we were able to bring the attendees a rich, immersive experience that utilized all five senses.
