Capturing shots in the wild

The Taitung County Government infused the power of design into the locality and established the Taitung Design Center, hoping to take this opportunity to remodel Taitung’s image and promote tourism through a brand film that was different from the past.

We discovered that Taitung was Taiwan’s “wildest” county. The “wildness” here does not refer to a savage, untamed nature, but rather, the wild ability of humans to live alongside both nature and themselves. This ability has been gradually fading in those living the urban life, yet the moment we set foot in Taitung, we are able to enjoy all of nature’s gifts to the fullest and rediscover the wildness that connects us as humans with nature. We therefore chose “Return to the Wild” as the main concept.

The film was shot through the eyes of a primitive hunter, featuring the careful observation of wildlife and the wild roaming of waves and cliffs. We extended the field of vision, with “high” being the height of mountaintops seen from a hot air balloon, and “deep” being the depth of diving into the ocean and the stars. Each design element was like a hidden surprise, and the logos, roads, weaving, church paintings, architectural lines, and new design energy were all closely linked to the origin of nature.
